Government to speed up delivery
26 Jan 2022
President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi says government will be delivering on its promises at an accelerated pace.
President Masisi told the first cabinet meeting of the year yesterday that time for promises had passed and that it was now time for unprecedented delivery.
Delivery, he said, should be focused on citizens and not politicians and other leaders.
The President said he would not be entertaining entitlements from politicians who ‘were better off when compared to other citizens’.
He told members of cabinet not to falter on delivery but rather to deliver to the point where Batswana were satisfied.
They were warned that if they forgot to deliver, Batswana would also forget them.
Prior to the meeting, two former assistant ministers who have been assigned full ministerial portfolios took the oath of office.
Mr Kgotla Autlwetse was sworn in as Minister of Local Government and Rural Development and Mr Ronald Shamukuni as Minister of Employment, Labour Productivity and Skills Development.
New entrants to cabinet Ms Talita Monnakgotla and Mr Aubrey Lesaso were also sworn in as assistant ministers of local government and rural development and tertiary education, research, science and technology respectively.
Mr Ntshabele Manamela also took the oath of office as acting deputy clerk to cabinet.
Meanwhile cabinet has welcomed back Moshupa-Manyana MP and Minister of Agricultural Development and Food Security Mr Karabo Gare who had been on sick leave.ends
