Bakgatla-ba-ga-Kgafela queen mother Mma Seingwaeng will be buried on Saturday, the tribe’s deputy chief has announced.

 Kgosi Bana Sekai  told a kgotla meeting convened to formally announce MmaSeingwaeng’s demise in Mochudi yesterday that Kgosi Kgafela II would not be able to attend the funeral. 

He said screens would be placed at different dikgotla for members of the public to watch the funeral proceedings live. 

Members of the public were encouraged to view the proceedings from designated venues as COVID-19 protocols would not make it possible for all mourners to converge at the royal house.

He advised funeral attendants to bring their COVID-19 vaccination certificates. 

Kgosi Sekai requested MmaSeingwaeng’s regiment, Maisakoma, to honour the late queen mother according to Sekgatla custom.

A memorial service for MmaSeingweng was planned for yesterday while condolence prayer services continue to be held daily. ends
