Sankoyo community celebrate academic excellence

Sankoyo community is preparing for the village  primary school’s victory celebration for academic excellence.

Sankoyo Primary School performed exceptionally well in the 2021 Primary School Leaving Examinations (PSLE) by obtaining 100 per cent overall pass rate, perching it among the top ten in the country.  

The school also scooped position one in the North West District out of 73 schools.

The village chief, Kgosi Gokgathang Moalosi confirmed in an interview that the victory party, scheduled for April this year, is to appreciate the children’s outstanding performance.

He acknowledged that the school had not been performing well in the past, but this time, the pupils shocked residents despite the difficulties associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. He said they saw it fit to have a victory celebrations to express their gratitude to the pupils for excellent results.

Kgosi Moalosi attributed the good performance to teamwork between parents, teachers and other stakeholders, saying they worked jointly to ensure good results were achieved amidst the pandemic.

North West regional Parents and Teachers Association (PTA) chairperson, Mr Lucky Letsapa also hailed Sankoyo and Kajaja Primary School in the Okavango district for the spectacular PSLE performance.

Both schools, he said made the region proud as they obtained 100 per cent overall pass rate and were also amongst the top ten in the country.

Mr Letsapa said the pupils had proven that schools in rural areas were just as capable as their counterparts in urban areas, despite the challenges they faced.

He also noted that teachers and parents deserved a pat on the back as they worked closely in assisting children in the learning process, stressing that facilitating a child’s development called for team spirit.

Mr Letsapa encouraged teachers to continue having a positive mindset and be instrumental in the teaching and learning process, saying the government would strive hard to address some of their challenges.

He promised that his committee would continue to support teachers and pupils in  pursuit of excellence. ENDS
