Youth across the country have been challenged to be active participants in the national development agenda.

Addressing a kgotla meeting in Mogoditshane on Friday, Member of Parliament for Mogoditshane Mr Tumiso Rakgare said the country needed active youth who could play a role particularly on how to address challenges of unemployment in the country.

Mr Rakgare who is also the Minister of Youth Empowerment, Culture and Sport Development, said his ministry had designed programmes and strategies to enhance effective youth participation in the country’s economic development as well as for their personal growth.

He further urged the youth to focus on sustainable projects that could contribute economically to the development of the country.

A resident of Mogoditshane Mr Morena Moanei challenged the district administration to speed up projects in the village, which he said would enable and enhance economic development in the village.

Mr Moanei also indicated that the Khudiring road was of sub-standard and low quality, and said it reduced the chances of enhancing developments in the village.

Mr Moanei also expressed concern at the many illegal businesses in the village, which he said were a result of irregularities within the village administration.

Giving an update on some of the projects in the village, Senior Assistant Council Secretary at Mogoditshane/Thamaga Sub-district Council Mr Losika Mosarwa indicated that most Constituency projects in the area have been completed adding that the remaining ones would be done by end of this financial year, citing Boseja ward as one of them.

Mr Mosarwa further stated a delay in the 25km roads project.

He said even though a tender to construct a school in Diagane at a cost of P12.5m had already been awarded, there was bound to be some delays due to appeals regarding the tender. Ends
