Christmas spirit prevails

22 Dec 2021

The private sector has been commended for its willingness to partner with government during challenging  times.

Receiving food hampers donated by Tsetseng Spar, Shoprite and Checkers supermarkets in Gaborone yesterday, Minister for Presidential Affairs, Governance and Public Administration Mr Kabo Morwaeng called on other corporate entities to do likewise.

He said the hampers were for frontliners who would be on duty during the festive season.

“As the curtain closes on 2021, we all look forward to spending quality time with our loved ones, but many of our frontliners in sectors such as security and health will be on duty and ensuring our safety and security. We thank them for their selfless devotion to national duty,” he said.

For her part, Checkers and Shoprite operations manager Ms Gorata Modikwa said the intention was to give frontliners a chance to enjoy Christmas away from their families.

She said hospitalised patients would also benefit from the donation as they too would not be able to join their families during the holidays. Ends
