Orapa United suffer defeat
20 Oct 2013
Orapa United FC suffered another setback in their hitherto positive campaign in the be-Mobile Premier league as they lost 1-2 at home to Palapye outfit, Motlakase Power Dynamos. After registering an early goal in the first minute of the game after defender Buyani Mbulawa headed home from a corner kick, the visitors got an equaliser 10 minutes later through a powerful free kick from Olebogeng Malebye.
As both teams appeared resigned for a draw, United got a rude awakening as they conceded a penalty on the 89th minute to squander an chance to settle for a possible draw. Veteran midfielder Jomo Bolofete converted from the sport kick to give Motlakase well-deserved three points.
Orapa United’s defender Samuel Phiri had handled the ball inside the penalty area. Phiri had attempted to clear a low ball with a header but it was unfortunate as the ball landed on his right arm, giving the referee no option but to award a penalty kick.
Bolofete’s first attempt was saved by the goal keeper Kaelo Joseph, but the assistant referee ordered a re-take as the goal keeper was believed to have moved off his line before Bolofete had kicked the ball.
The veteran midfielder redeemed himself as he converted his second attempt to give his team the coveted three points. Earlier in the second half, Orapa United converted what looked like a legitimate goal through Opelo Godfrey but the referee blew the whistle for infringement on a Motlakase defender and warned the culprit, Ompolokile Alone with a yellow card.
Even though Motlakase controlled the game in the middle of the park, United looked a better side in the second half but were unfortunate as they squandered ample goal scoring opportunities. ENDS
