Chobe region COVID-19 cases surge

Chobe has recorded an increase of 249 active COVID-19 cases between November 23 and December 15.

Chobe Regional Health Management Team coordinator, Ms Rose Munyere told BOPA that as at December 15, the region had 256 active cases.

She said 215 of the cases were in home isolation while 41 were in isolation facilities.

Ms Munyere noted that out of the 115 390 cumulative tests done in the region, a total of 7 952 cumulative positive cases were recorded and 502 were repatriated.

She further said 39 deaths were registered as at September and a total of 7 172 recoveries were registered.

Regarding the vaccination, Ms Munyere said 14 153 people above 18 years were fully vaccinated while 629 were awaiting the second dose. She explained that DHMT had targeted to vaccinate 18 318 people aged 18 and above.

Ms Munyere said the region had received 22 575 vaccine doses and were expecting more. ENDS
