Dimolemo premium institute officially launched

Education and training institutions such as Dimolemo Premium Institute (DPI), are key to the attainment of government’s transformation agenda, an Institute of Development Management (IDM) official has said.
Mr Thato Kgaodi who is IDM regional manager for strategic communication and projects, said this, Wednesday during the launch of DPI here. Mr Kgaodi commended the founder for creating one more opportunity for young people to grow.
“What is highly commendable about the training institute is that it is the brainchild of one Motswana woman, Ms Kedibonye Mareka who has a vision to see Botswana’s education system take a gigantic leap into uncharted waters”, he said.
DPI trainings would not only provide youth with entrepreneurial skills, but would also up-skill them so they are able to set up businesses and employ others. Mr Kgaodi said equipping young people with entrepreneurial skills and enhancing their business acumen was a concept worth pursuing by all.
He noted that while Batswana received free education from Primary school all the way to university , there were concerns over some young people who could not go beyond secondary school.
The DPI, he said, would help to plug that gap through its trainings. Mr Kgaodi said the central district was among areas whose youth were confronted by a lot of social challenges including failure to proceed with learning, which was in itself a threat to a person’s future.
DPI trainings would accommodate such people and provide them with adequate know-how for them to be able to establish their own facilities such as kindergartens, day care centres and adult home care centres, he said.
Mr Kgaodi encouraged potential students to enroll with the institution so they may acquire new skills through which they could later on support themselves, their families and communities.
The founder of DPI Ms Mareka, a health professional with experience spanning health, education and training and public health safety and health promotion sectors, said she was looking forward to the community and other stakeholder’s support. Ends
