19-year-old hangs himself at family home

Police in Tutume are investigating an incident in which a 19-year-old man of Magapatona ward in Tutume hanged himself at his family home.
Tutume Police Station Commander, Superintendent Jerry Halahala confirmed the incident in an interview with BOPA on Tuesday, stating that the deceased’s sister found him hanging from the rafters in his bedroom and notified the police.
Superintendent Halahala said preliminary investigations indicated that the deceased knocked off earlier than usual from work on Monday alleging that he was not feeling well.
No message explaining his actions was found.
Supt Halahala said the deceased’s body was at Tutume hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
Meanwhile, Supt Halahala said suicide cases were worrying in Tutume, this one being the tenth this year.
He appealed to the community leadership to encourage residents to seek help when facing difficult situations. ends
