Mascom continues to positively contribute and change the lives of ordinary people for the better, through its Social Corporate Responsibility initiative.

Recently, the mobile network  hosted its annual CEO’s Christmas Party for vulnerable children at Kauxwi Primary School in the Okavango region.

The Christmas party saw Kauxwi Primary School reception class children receiving goodies in the form of school bags, school uniforms, Christmas clothes, toiletry, stationery, ICT equipment and Mascom merchandise.

Speaking at the event, chief executive officer, Ms Dzene Makhwade-Seboni said the company had taken keen interest in the vulnerable and disadvantaged groups within the society.

“These we do through initiatives such as the Mascom Housing Project, the CEO’s Christmas party for vulnerable children and Mascom 3 for 3,” she said.

She also noted that it was their hope that the donation of ICT equipment to Kauxwi Primary School, would bridge the digital gap between rural and urban schools.

Ms Makhwade-Seboni further highlighted that since 1999, Mascom CEOs had been hosting parties for children in different parts of the country, adding that, to date villages such as Morwa, Otse, Palapye, Mahalapye, Molepolole, Maun, Ghanzi, Kasane and Maunatlala among others; had benefited from the noble initiative.

For her part, principal education officer in the region, Ms Boitumelo Selerio commended Mascom for the noble gesture, saying the donation was timely as Christmas was a time when many children needed new clothes, which not all parents could afford.

Ms Selerio also noted that the donated school uniforms would have a positive impact and motivate every child to go into the next school level with confidence. ends
