Consultation for bogosi posts starts

05 Dec 2021

Consultations for vacant bogosi positions have commenced and they will be concluded on the December 17.

This was revealed by Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Sethabelo Modukanele when responding to questions that were asked in Parliament by the Kgalagadi South MP last Thursday. Mr Modukanele noted that the villages of Kokotsha, Werda and Draaihoek in Kgalagadi South constituency had been without dikgosi for some time, and that consultations were suspended due to COVID-19 restrictions on mass gatherings.

“Following the end of the State of Public Emergency on September 30, I instructed all consultations to commence immediately.

All the proceedings will be conducted through the assistance from the district commissioners where necessary,” he said. He further said all public officers on official duty including dikgosi were provided with transport and in the event government vehicles were not available, an officer may be requested to use personal transport and be paid mileage or be issued a transport warrant.

He further said dikgosi who were assigned to assist at Kokotsha, Werda and Draaihoek were paid mileage claims in instances where they were not provided with official transport and that claims had been fully paid. The Member of Parliament for Kgalagadi South, Mr Sam Brooks had asked the minister if he was aware that villages of Kokotsha, Werda, Draaihoek in Kgalagadi South constituency had been without dikgosi for some time now. He also asked if the minister was aware that dikgosi from other villages who were assigned to assist were not provided with transport or paid when they used their own transport. Moreover, he asked about the plan going forward and the remedial action thereof. ENDS
