Sejelo police in Kanye are investigating a case in which a 31-year-old man of Mongala ward in Kanye drowned in a swimming pool on Saturday.

Assistant Superintendent Ernest Sesinyi said in an interview that the man was attending a party at Ranaka, where he attempted to swim, but drowned at the deep end of the pool.

In a different incident, a 43-year-old man of Maiyo ward in Kanye was found dead in an abandoned house in his neighbourhood on Sunday.

Assistant Supt. Sesinyi said that a passerby who found the motionless body on Sunday morning alerted the police. Police investigations on the matter continue.

Still in Kanye, a three-year old boy reportedly fell and drowned in an open pit while playing with his six year old brother at Motlhala ward on Sunday afternoon.

Assistant Supt. Sesinyi said that the boy was certified dead on arrival at Kanye Seventh Day Adventist Hospital.

He implored residents to ensure that open pits were safely covered and to keep a close eye on children.

He also urged people to exercise caution during the festive season and desist from getting overly excited. Ends
