Galaxy sink Highlanders further
28 Nov 2021
A brace from Thabang Sesinyi and another goal from Lucky Mokoena were enough to ensure maximum points for Jwaneng Galaxy against MR Highlanders.
After putting up a stubborn show against the favourites, Highlanders finally broke with two minutes before the half hour mark when the unmarked Sesinyi slotted home from inside the box.
The goal marked the dominant display by Galaxy.
The Jwaneng side was especially green on the left flank marshalled by Lemogang Maswena, but kept on missing clear chances to the disappointment of supporters.
With Highlanders posing little danger and their goalkeeper, Isaac Moyo, being the busiest, many Galaxy supporters were not satisfied with the solitary goal their team took into the break.
In the second half, Galaxy ensured victory through what appeared to be two lucky goals.
After Melusi Ncongo failed to bury a spot kic, he was awarded in the 58th minute after he was fouled in the box, Galaxy responded swiftly within two minutes through Sesinyi, who somehow deflected a cross past Moyo for wild celebrations with the home fans.
If ever there was any little hope of Highlanders coming back into the game, it extinguished in the 71st minute.
Mokoena got really lucky when a clearance by the Highlanders defence hit him and deflected back into the net, making it 3-0.
The win ensured that Galaxy kept pace with log leaders, but for the Blessing Moyo led Highlanders there is still a lot to do. Highlanders have so far lost all their first five games, scoring just one goal while letting in 13. ENDS
