Maun Terrors defeat Sankoyo Bush Bucks

There was no spark as anticipated in the Maun derby in the Debswana First Division League - North on Saturday.
Maun Terrors beat Sankoyo Bush Bucks 1-0 in a dull game.
Football lovers had expected sparks to fly, but that was not the case as the hosts Sankoyo aka Ngurungu never played the football they are known for.
This left Terrors with a full plate, but they too did not capitalise on opponents weaknesses.
The visiting team enjoyed freedom in the centre of the park taking advantage of Ngurungu middle fielders who seemed to be relaxed and unable to hold the ball.
Terrors continued to put a spirited fight through the likes of Kelesego Gabaakelwe and Boikobo Phaketsane, who created opening chances in the first 20 minutes.
However, their efforts were in vain as Sankoyo goal keeper, Bothata Phetodi, was alert saving all the shots directed to him while some flew wide.
In the second half, both teams came determined as they seemed to follow instructions from the coaches.
Terrors increased pace of the game, making quick moves that caught Ngurungu defence napping in the 55th minute when Phaketsane scored.
Terrors assistant coach, Kenanao Abraham, stated in an interview that his boys executed their plan perfectly and the aim was to collect three points.
Despite the victory, Abraham said his team was using the old squad, adding that there were delays to register new players.
Sankoyo head coach, Anthony Timothy, expressed disappointment and said his boys did not play to their best as the plan was to guard their rivals in the centre.
Going forward, he said they would go back to the drawing board to see how best they could prepare for the next encounter. ENDS
