 Botswana Defence Force Matsiloje camp Class of 42 has donated goods worth over P28 000 to Itireleng primary school in Foley.

The goods comprise four wheelbarrows, four chairs, leaf rakes, four 20 litres of sanitisers, photocopying papers, a toner, 350 packets of sanitary pads and four wheel chairs. 
Handing over the donation, Deputy Commandant of the BDF Military College, Colonel George Bogatsu said the donation demonstrated the military’s commitment to shaping the future through social responsibility. 
Colonel Bogatsu said the donation was in line with the pillars of Vision 2036 which aimed promoted quality education.
He explained that this was not the first time Matsiloje BDF donated to the school. 
Colonel Bogatsu further indicated that the donations were contributions of the officer cadets.
He said though the military was tasked with protecting the country, it was also involved in community projects. 
He said the donation was a heed of the call by President, Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi for organisations and individuals to donate to the less priviledged.
He therefore appealed to other organisations, the business community, individuals to donate. 
The Deputy Commandant appealed to parents to play their  role in the education of their children.
To the teachers, he appealed to them to raise their profession to yield positive results.
Acting School Head, Ms Mishodzi Segole promised that the donated items would be put to good use. 
She said the school, which was built through a community project in 2009, was faced with many serious challenges. 
One of the challenges, she said, was the transfer in and out of teachers and shortage of classrooms, adding that the school only had three blocks of two classes.
However, Ms Segole said despite the challenges, the school was doing exceptionally well in the primary school leaving examinations.
In his welcome remarks, Kgosi Olebile Khumo of Foley thanked the soldiers for their generosity.
