 Shakawe police are investigating a case of murder, suicide and assault involving family members at Lebodu ward in Nxamasere, which happened on Sunday morning.

Acting officer commanding for Police District No. 17, Superintendent Goitsemodimo Molapisi said, in an interview, that a 20-year-old man allegedly attacked his 36-year-old mother with an axe.

During the attack, Superintendent Molapisi said the mother was baby wearing a two-year-old girl and the man somehow missed his mother and hit the baby with the axe. 

According to Superintendent Molapisi, a neighbour reported the incident and the police rushed to the scene, where they picked up the baby and the mother for medical attention at Shakawe clinic.

He said the little girl was certified dead upon arrival at the clinic, while the mother was treated for injuries and discharged the same day. 

Superintendent Molapisi said the police then went back to Nxamasere to look for the assailant, only to find him hanging from a tree in the nearby bush. ENDS
