Access road part of Mabeleapudi-Tshimoyapula road project
25 Nov 2021
The access road to Serule kgotla forms part of the project scope for the Mabeleapudi-Tshimoyapula road, Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Kgotla Autlwetse has said.
He said the road was under the 10km access road programme and that it was constructed with associated drainage infrastructure inclusive of culverts.
Mr Autlwetse said it had been observed that the culverts were not coping with storm water whenever there were heavy rains.
He said since the project was still under defects liability period and that there was no budget provision to install additional culverts, his ministry was in discussions with the Ministry of Transport and Communications to explore alternative ways of addressing the inadequacy of the storm water drains.
Serowe North MP, Mr Baratiwa Mathoothe had asked the minister to explain why the access road to the Serule kgotla had no culverts even though there was a lot of flooding on the road during the rainy season. Ends
