Community donates to newborn triplets

17 Nov 2021

Ghanzi community has donated toiletry, clothing and blankets to newly born triplets; Irene, Thandi and Johnson.

The donations were handed over by Morama ward Councillor Mr Jeremiah Tibi in Ghanzi on Monday where the donors also pledged to support the babies until they turn one year.

The triplets, two girls and a boy were delivered at Letsholathebe hospital in Maun on November 9, and are currently at the health facility with their mother, Olekile Nxau, who hails from Karakubis.

Mr Tibi said celebrating life brought joy.

“When a baby is born, it brings happiness and hope for good fortunes. Receiving three babies at a go is an augmented blessing worth dedicating to God,” said Mr Tibi.

Therefore, Cllr Tibi said the  Ghanzi community must rejoice with the family and be grateful for the blessing.

He underscored that raising a child takes responsibility, love and care, and that a mother raising three at a go would encounter some difficulties.

Receiving the donations, their father, Mr Bongi Supetsi aged 55, expressed gratitude; firstly to God to have blessed him with the triplets and towards the donation.

The donations were made possible by Kalahari Arms Hotel alongside Ms Elani Van Rooyen and Mr Steven Van Rooyen, Ms Gayle Freezer and Ms Eunice Vize.

The hotel’s manager, Mr Todd Chivese said an undisclosed amount of monetary contributions from members of the public would also be handed over to the babies’ mother.

Meanwhile, Ghanzi District Commissioner, Mr Mooketsi Lesetedi said the donation was a way of contributing to the country’s goal of caring for one another and would help the country to fulfil the vision 2036 ideals. ENDS
