04 Nov 2021

At least 18 807 people have been vaccinated in Kweneng West.

When officially opening the Sub- council session on Tuesday November 2, Letlhakeng Sub-district council chairperson, Mr Meshack Tshenyego said  urged leaders to encourage the community to go to take the vaccine, saying the rollout has been extended to 18-year olds.

He said Kweneng West  had 85 active COVID-19 cases which were being monitored.

Commenting on the just ended Primary School Leaving Examinations, Mr Tshenyego said there were challenges, especially those posed by COVID-19.

He said just when the examinations  were to begin on October 19, Diphuduhudu Primary School registered  45 cases amongst its pupils, four of whom were to sit for the exams.

“This prompted the relevant authorities to declare an immediate closure of the school and leaving only seven candidates, who camped at the school for the entire duration of the examinations,” he said.

Mr Tshenyego said the school got all the necessary support from all departments involved, including psycho-social support, which enabled the candidates to sit for the exams.

He added that everything was back to normal as lower pupils returned to school on November 1. ENDS
