03 Nov 2021

Gabane budding entrepreneurs have been urged to embrace business opportunities and nurture them to realise their dreams.

Speaking at the opening of a two-day workshop hosted by the Gabane/Mmankgodi constituency office Tuesday, area MP Mr Kagiso Mmusi applauded facilitators of the workshop for skills sharing.

He said after the drilling, youth would greatly benefit from entrepreneurship, customer service, financial literacy and time management.

Mr Mmusi, who is also Minister of Defence, Justice and Security said these four pillars had to be carefully nurtured in order to realise the ideals of the theme, Conquering in the Midst of Adversity’.

He said helping young people build sustainable business ventures was top priority.

He pleaded with the youth to approach the constituency office to enquire on any available opportunity and take it up.

Mr Mmusi explained that the office had, in the past, requested the Indian High Commission for scholarship slots and at the moment 20 young people from the area were pursuing academic programmes in India.

For his part, Kgosi Seeletso Pule of Gabane said empowering young people was a great initiative.

He said the youth should have a strong will and the right mindset to face different challenges.

He said in their quest to realise their dreams, the youth should not fear failure as it was the first step towards entrepreneurship development.

Kgosi Pule pleaded with the youth to explore different ideas,  be innovative and not limit their capabilities.

Explaining the workshop mandate and expected outcome, Ms Tsaone Makwatso from Next Source said her company’s mandate was consultancy and youth empowerment.

Ms Makwatso shared her own entrepreneurship journey and conceded that it was not an easy expedition.

She said she was pleased that her company would share knowledge and skills transfer to young people who were willing to learn the business journey.

She said young people were facing trying times not only due to the pandemic, but an array of other socio-economic ills. Ends
