Minister applauds healthcare furniture company

Assistant Minister of Health and Wellness Mr Sethomo Lelatisitswe has applauded Westmed Company for manufacturing healthcare furniture locally.
Touring the company’s facilities in Mogoditshane on Friday October 29, Mr Lelatisitswe said he was happy because locally produced products ensured that jobs were not exported.
He said most of the medical furniture was imported, and it was pleasing to see it being manufactured “in our soil” was a milestone.
Mr Lelatisitswe also applauded the company for hiring locals in the company.
Further, he commended the company in a special way for hiring a fresh graduate, an engineer by profession from BUAN who designs the furniture in the company, saying that he was very impressed because he was a product from one of the local universities.
He said he believed that other young graduates would be inspired by his achievement.
He thanked private hospitals for supporting that business because by so doing employment, opportunities for locals would be created. He also implored ministry officials to consider buying the products.
Chief Biomedical engineer in the Ministry of Health and Wellness, Mr Spencer Sibanda applauded Westmed company for its efforts were highly appreciated by the ministry because the products they manufacture were of great value, considering that government was spending a lot of money buying most medical equipment outside the country hence he assured the company government’s support.
Company director, Mr Neville Jacob thanked the health and welness ministry and Princess Marina Hospital for the assistance they have provided in validating and allowing the company to work with them to improve their products.
He said the feedback helped them manufacture products that were needed, usable and within the ministry’s requirements.
Mr Jacob said they were grateful for the support they had received from the mines, private and government sectors.
Westmed company is wholly citizen owned and registered in 2013 and ventured into manufacturing of medical furniture in 2019. The company manufactures a range of medical furniture suitable for use in hospitals, clinics and primary health care facilities. Ends
