02 Nov 2021
Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Mabuse Pule has told Ntlo Ya Dikgosi that the Nama language has been included in those that are being considered for implementation in the lower primary classes.
“Based on the ongoing consultations on the Draft Language Policy, it is recommended as one of the languages earmarked for phase one of the implementation of mother tongue in primary schools,” Mr Pule said in response to a question asked by Kgosi Moeti Monyamane of Kgalagadi North region.
Mr Pule was responding on behalf of basic education minister. Kgosi Monyamane had asked the basic education minister to explain why the Nama language was not included in the mother tongue languages initiative at primary education lower classes since it was one of the dominating languages in the Kgalagadi and Ghantsi districts.
