Tsogwane praises Choppies for corporate social responsibility

02 Nov 2021

Supermarket chain giant Choppies has been commended for giving back to the community.

Speaking during the handing over of houses donated by Choppies to two Boteti Sub-district families recently, Vice President Slumber Tsogwane said the company went the extra mile in uplifting the lives of communities within which it operated.

The donation includes a two-bedroomed house for the Viroro family of Toromoja and two houses for Kedia’s Xamaxharae family.

Mr Tsogwane said the supermarket giant not only invested in communities through building houses but created job opportunities, supported local businesses by renting their buildings and procuring agricultural produce locally.

He noted that Choppies had built eight houses in the Boteti Sub-district and  opened stores in the remotest areas of Botswana such as Kgalagadi, Shakawe and Kasane.

Letlhakane Choppies manager, Mr Tshepo Olebetse said the donation would enhance the beneficiaries’ dignity.

In Kedia, he urged Ms Zibezibe Xamaxharae to take care of the houses so that they could be inherited by her grandchildren.

Attributing Choppies’ massive growth to the loyal support it enjoyed from Batswana, Mr Olebetse said the company boasted  91 branches and close to 3 000 employees.ends
