Double Action bows out of COSAFA Womens Championship League

Double Action Football Club has failed to advance to the finals of the COSAFA Women’s Championship League finals following 0-2 loss to Black Rhinos Queens of Zimbabwe. The semifinal game was played at Goodwill Zwelithini Stadium in Durban on Thursday.

The team made it to the semifinals after finishing second behind Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa in the group stage. Double Action won two of the three group stage matches, beating Manzini Wanderers 3-0 in their maiden game of the tournament, followed by the 0-6 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns and defeating Lesotho Defence Force 6-0.

Double Action Managing Director, Senki Sesinyi, who commended the team for performing exceptionally well, said the team was determined to leave a mark in the tournament.

Sesinyi also appreciated the support that the team received from all the relevant stakeholders in preparing for the tournament. “We prepared well for the tournament,” she said.

The tournament, she said, was an eye opener. “We learnt and lot from the competition and we are hoping to replicate what we have learnt in the domestic league,” she said.

Sesinyi is optimistic that the experience acquired will help the team in similar tournaments in furture. BOPA
