Women economic empowerment programme review ongoing

Parliament has learnt that the Women Economic Empowerment programme is still under review following its suspension in February 2017.
Responding to a parliamentary question on Monday, Minister of Employment, Labour Productivity and Skills Development, Mr Mpho Balopi said the programme remained suspended and the ministry was also awaiting cabinet decision on implementation and management of all government empowerment programmes.
Mr Balopi, who was responding on behalf of Minister of Nationality, Immigration and Gender Affairs, said cabinet had resolved that a sub-committee comprising of ministers of Investment, Trade and Industry, Presidential Affairs, Governance and Public Administration, Transport and Communications as well as Youth, Sport and Culture Development be established.
Francistown West MP, Mr Ignatius Moswaane had asked the minister to update Parliament on the status of the Women Economic Empowerment programme. ENDS
