Table tennis team competes at Africa champs

31 Aug 2021

Botswana Table Tennis Association (BTTA) has sent two young players to the Africa Senior World Championships in Cameroon.

The two are Sean Dekop and Tshephang Kebodiwang.

They are accompanied by Kabo Mosarwe as head coach and Ritah Sebele, an international table tennis umpire.

The tournament is scheduled to start today and end on September 8.

The two players underwent a week-long training session at a high performance centre conducted by ITTF training camp coordinator, Dominique Platter from Austria.

BTTA public relations officer, Aurthur Kgaswane, said they sent only two players due to lack of funds, noting that initially they had selected two boys and two girls to participate at the championships.

Kgaswane said sending a team of youngsters was a good idea since they would gain experience to compete at upcoming events such as the 2022 Commonwealth Games and the 2023 World Championships that would be held in South Africa. ENDS
