Constituency projects underway in Tonota sub-council

A total of 24 Constituency Community Projects for 2019/2020 are being implemented, and 11 of hose are complete while 13 projects ranged between 76-99 per cent to completion, Tonota Sub-district chairman Mr Christjan Machokoto has said.
Addressing a virtual Full Council meeting on Monday he said the sub-district had constructed a 1 by 10 cubicle toilet block at Jamataka Primary School as a COVID-19 project, which had since been completed and handed over to the beneficiary.
He said a project for the restoration of a culvert on Manyanda-Leomboko road budgeted for P1.6 million was currently at tender stage, adding that engineers were working round the clock to ensure that a project of high quality was delivered within the budget.
Regarding the grading of internal roads, Mr Machokoto said the sub-district had three graders two of which were operational while the other was being repaired.
“One grader is allocated to Shashe West Constituency and grading has been done in all the villages of the constituency, except Mabesekwa,” he said.
A grader allocated to Tonota constituency spent sometimes off road, but had now been repaired and was grading internal roads in Tonota, he said.He highlighted that Tonota-Mabesekwa road re-gravelling tendered at the sum of more than P15.8 million was at 49 per cent against 100 percent completion stage, adding that a recommendation for termination has been forwarded to roads department in the Ministry of Transport and Communications because of failure to deliver by the contractor.
Concerning Tonota-Serule A1 road fencing project budgeted at P3.1 million, he said the project was currently at 65 progress and, that the contractor was failing to deliver the project.
He said a recommendation for termination had since been forwarded to department of roads under Ministry of Transport and Communications.
Mr Machokoto said a project for the rehabilitation of Motloutse Bridge, which was damaged by floods was progressing well at 48 percent. The budget for the projet was P4.1 million. ENDS
