Botswana’s paralympic team is set to compete at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games commencing tomorrow.
The team, which comprises Edwin Masuge T13 in 400m men and Gloria Majaga T13 400m in women category, has been in a preparatory camp in Yokohama ahead of the games.
Chef de mission, Titus Letshwiti, said in an interview that he was confident about the team doing well, given the extensive training undertaken.
After staying in Yokohama from August 13, the team moved into the games village in Tokyo on Sunday.
He said the coach was happy with the progress of the athletes and the physiotherapist gave them a clean bill of health.
Letshwiti said the morale was high and the athletes were ready to face the world, adding that their aim was not to put them under pressure, but allow them to enjoy the competition.
“One other thing is that we are certain that they are on their correct categories or classes, as they were classified by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC),” he said.
Meanwhile Masuge will be Botswana’s flag bearer during the official opening ceremony and he would start competing at the Olympic Stadium tomorrow.
Majaga ould take to the track on Thursday. ENDS
