Tsau, Semboyo, Makakung (TSM) Community Trust in partnership with Theron Safaris Botswana have donated sporting kit worth P80 000 to the three villages that make the Trust.
Speaking at a ceremony to donate the goods on Monday, Theron Safaris Botswana owner, Mr Gerrie Theron said sport was important in disciplining and uniting children and therefore, parents, guardians and teachers should nurture children’s talent.
He said the donation marked the beginning of a relationship between the hunting company and the communities of Tsau, Semboyo and Makakung where they operated.
TSM community trust manager, Mr Allen Sokwe said the trust had a new partnership with Theron Safaris Botswana which had invested about P1,7 million towards the partnership.
Mr Sokwe said the trust’s aim was to develop the lives of the communities.
He said the kit to be donated to primary, junior schools and study group in the three villages was only a start since they aimed to introduce a tournament that would eventually produce a team.
In his welcome remarks, Kgosi Baemedi Lelatlhego of Semboyo thanked the investor for the donation, reiterating that sport was instrumental in uniting children.
Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) member, Mr Marumo Marumo said the role of the committee was to ensure that community trusts played a part in developing communities and stated that TSM was on the right track.
