Sub-council to build 15 houses

17 Aug 2021

Moshupa Sub-district council will construct 15 destitute houses at a tune of P1 500 000 during the financial year 2021/2022.

Speaking during Moshupa sub-council virtual meeting on Monday, council chairperson Mr Peter Sethibe said contractors for the 15 houses had been identified while construction work would commence once funds were disbursed.

He added that all the houses would be two-bedroomed.

He said due to budgetary constraints the planned 2020/2021 and 2021/2022 Community Constituency Projects had been halted with focus diverted to completion of the 2019/2020 projects.

Mr Sethibe noted that of the 38 projects being carried out, the Kgomokasitwa LA2 project was 90 per cent complete while other projects were expected to be have reached completion status.

He also shared efforts by the sub-district to bring services closer to people citing upgrading of four clinics.

He said expansion of Moshupa Clinic would also include construction of drug warehouse.

“The facility will be closed during the construction period and services will be provided at the nearby Village Development Community’s public hall for the duration of the project. The project is expected to be complete in 126 days,” he said.

He said Pitseng Clinic would also be upgraded to house maternity wing. The tender was awarded on June 2.

He said during the upgrading, the clinic would be temporarily closed and the District Health Management Team (DHMT) had reached an agreement with Moshupa Sub-district council to use the old Social and Community Development facility for the duration of the project.

Mr Sethibe said the maternity wing at Manyana clinic would be extended with two additional rooms, citing that the tender had already been awarded and awaiting contract signing and handing over. The project is anticipated to be completed within 90 days.

“It is worth noting that the maternity wing would be temporarily closed for the duration of the project and patients will be referred to Thamaga Primary Hospital for maternity services,” he said.

He said Sesung Health Post would be upgraded to a clinic without a maternity wing.

The tender has already been awarded and the project is expected to be completed in nine months.

He said services would not be interrupted since construction of the new structure would not affect the existing one.

On backlog eradication, he said a budget estimate of P5. 95m had been allocated to Moshupa Sub-district for construction of two LA2 houses at Kgomokasitwa and Seherelela and classroom blocks at Ntlhantlhe and Mogonye Primary schools.

He said tenders for the construction of classroom blocks would be restricted to companies within Moshupa Sub-district jurisdiction which would run from August 4-25. ENDS
