Primeone cleans Kazungula Primary School kitchen

16 Aug 2021

A Gaborone-based cleaning services company, Primeone on Sunday cleaned  and disinfected Kazungula Primary School kitchen.

Speaking during the cleaning activity, the company’s managing director, Mr Gardson Mazonde, said dirty kitchens were breeding areas for cockroaches and rats that could cause food poisoning.

He, however, explained that the exercise was part of  a two-year adoption of the school by Primeone.

Mr Mazonde said, as company that specialises in kitchen extractor cleaning, amongst others, Primeone wanted to demonstrate that kitchens in institutional facilities could be kept clean thereby avoiding diseases.

Mr Mazonde said in addition to Kazungula, his company had adopted Reuben and Botlhapatlou primary schools in Selebi Phikwe and Botlhapatlou respectively.

The company’s sales and marketing manager, Ms Utlwanang Keabetswe, noted that it was important for kitchen extract to always be working and kept on while cooking was on-going.

She explained that the extractor sucked the steam from food adding that the steam was a risk to health of the cooks and also made residues on the walls that were not easy to clean.

Ms Keabetswe also noted that oil trap should be cleaned regularly to avoid rats and blockages.

For her part, the council’s education secretary, Ms Sewa Seete said since the two-year adoption of Kazungula Primary School in August last year, cleaning had been done after every six months with the last cleaning activity expected in February next year.

She noted that since the first cleaning activity, the school had been finding it easy to keep the kitchen clean.

The school head, Ms Sepiso Ramonkga, was happy for the service provided by Primeone.

Prior to the service, she said it was difficult to keep cockroaches and rats at bay.

Ms Ramonkga said by then the kitchen employees had a lot of work since they had to clean off oil residues on walls on daily basis but since Primeone cleaned kitchen extractor the work had become easier for them. ENDS
