Ramagonono trustworthy responsible soldier

President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi has hailed as a hero, Corporal Jacob Ramagonono, who lost his life in an accident on August 3 while serving on a peace mission in Mozambique.
In his condolence message to the family of Ramagonono and Seboko, President Masisi said Corporal Ramagonono lost his life while representing his country in a peace keeping mission.
Corporal Ramagonono, popularly known as Banno was a member of Botswana Defence Force (BDF) 112 Infantry Battalion.
The President in his message read by Molepolole-Lentsweletau District Officer, Mr Innocent Maotwe, said the country had lost a hard worker, a real man, a dedicated soldier who was trustworthy and responsible in executing his duties.
Dr Masisi said the nation was proud to have a hero like him, who joined others in volunteering to represent Botswana in Mozambique as a way of restoring peace in that country.
He said this was a loss to the whole nation, adding there was hope that those left behind would continue to protect the nation.
The Minister for Presidential Affairs, Governance and Public Administration Mr Kabo Morwaeng, who is also Molepolole South MP, also hailed Corporal Ramagonono as a hero who sacrificed his life for national security.
Major General Mpho Mophuting of the BDF also sent his condolences.
Corporal Ramagonono was born on February 3, 1978 in Molepolole and joined the BDF in 1997. He received training in 81mm Cannon and also undertook a Hardening Course at Reunion Islands in 2014.
In 2015, he undertook a Section Commander’s course and Military Skills Competition in South Africa.
Corporal Ramagonono also received training in Basic First Aid and Physical Training Instructor’s course.
In April, he was sent to India for a course in Junior Combat Leadership.
Upon his arrival, he was sent to Mozambique as part of SADC Mission in Mozambique, which had been deployed to support Mozambique’s efforts in combating terrorism and acts of violent extremism orchestrated by non-state actors in Cabo Delgado.
Corporal Ramagonono leaves behind both his parents, a son and six siblings. ENDS
