Tsabong BHC houses almost complete

12 Aug 2021

Botswana Housing Corporation (BHC) communications manager, Mr Tebogo Mmokele says a total of 19 residential houses are under construction in Tsabong to meet rising demand for housing.

Speaking in an interview on Wednesday, Mr Mmokele said the project started in March 2019 and so far 17 low-income two bedroomed houses had been completed pending water connections while an additional two houses were nearing completion.

He said once complete 19 housing units would be sold to qualifying Batswana as well as citizen-owned companies with a majority shareholding being Batswana.

He added that property prices were not yet established and would be determined upon completion once valuation was done. Mr Mmokele highlighted that in line with promoting local economic development and a citizen-led economy, a total of nine Batswana construction companies were engaged where each was awarded a minimum of two houses to construct.

He said the corporation was in the process of constructing 13 more low-income two-bedroomed residential houses in the near future in Tsabong.

The project was at tendering stage. He highlighted that BHC was guided by rising demand in a locality to build more houses, therefore future projects in Kgalagadi district would be determined by need.

He said BHC was committed to designing and developing built up environments that took cognizance of the location, market, environment and generating value.

The corporation was dedicated to developing high quality modern residential estates to ensure value proposition and return on investment. ends
