12 Aug 2021

Botswana Harvard Partnership (BHP) on Wednesday donated four Oxygen Concentrators and 100 bunny suits to Scottish Livingstone Hospital (SLH) in Molepolole.

Receiving the donations from BHP’s Dr Sarah Schwanke-Khilji, the hospital’s chief medical officer, Dr Jacques Tshimbalanga said the donation came at the right time as the there was acute shortage of such equipment owing to COVID-19 pandemic.

BHP communications coordinator, Mr Tapela Morapedi said in a side interview after, that the donation was prompted by acute shortage of equipment to undertake the initiative through fundraising to help save lives.

He said BHP as an institution relied more on donations, and had asked individual donors in the US to assist.

Through the initiative BHP secured 14 oxygen concentrators and 200 bunny suits, which were donated to Princess Marina and Scottish Livingstone Hospitals.

He said the two hospitals were prioritised considering their high numbers of patients.

Meanwhile, when appreciating the donation the hospital matron, Ms Elisa Basimanebotlhe, said the contribution would go a long way in saving lives that would otherwise be lost without the equipment. Ends
