MRI Botswana says its COVID-19 home care service is bearing fruit as most of those assisted do not experience severe complications.
Speaking on Btv’s COVID-19 media update programme on Tuesday, the company’s health services manager, Dr Mellus Tshube said the service included bringing doctors to homes to examine and treat COVID-19 patients.
MRI Botswana also provides oxygen as most patients experience breathing problems.
He said the introduction of house calls was prompted by the realisation that many hospitals were overwhelmed due to escalating COVID-19 cases.
Explaining that everyone was eligible for the service, Dr Tshube urged members of the public to call MRI Botswana offices for more information.
He revealed that the company also offered tele-counselling through which trained psychologists helped patients work through their problems.
Dr Tshube stated that psychosocial support was vital given that many people had lost loved ones to COVID-19.
Regarding the use of home remedies, another MRI official, Dr Abel Moumakwa, appealed for caution advising that doctors be consulted on using such treatments alongside prescribed medications to avoid overdosing.
MRI Botswana provides integrated and innovative health care services and related solutions.ends
