Ministry in-house team to maintain road
11 Aug 2021
The Ministry of Transport and Communications will continue use the in-house team to maintain the Mogome-Mokgware and Serowe Road.
Transport and communications minister, Mr Thulagano Segokgo said this in response to a parliamentary question on Tuesday.
Mr Segokgo explained that the ministry was aware that outsourcing was more efficient but due to budgetary constraints, maintenance of the road could not be outsourced.
He added that he was however aware of the current condition of the road. He said that in order to address the challenges presented by its condition, the road was graded every quarter using limited in-house resources (graders).
He indicated that the road was last maintained or graded on July 7 and the next grading would be undertaken on the first week of October.
Serowe South MP, Mr Leepetswe Lesedi had asked the minister if he was aware of the bad state of the Mogome-Mokgware and Serowe road and what the ministry was doing to address challenges presented. ENDS
