Podder Investments and Trident donated blankets and food hampers to over 30 households in Gaborone Bonnington North on Saturday.

TThe area MP, Ms Annah Mokgethi, Councillor Resego Thamage and Mr Aruu Podder of Podder Investments attended the handover event.

Ms Mokgethi, who is also the Minister of Nationality, Immigration and Gender Affairs, said she was committed to assisting her constituents during the tough period of COVID-19, where many had lost their jobs.

She reiterated that the donation was part of an array of activities meant to assist her constituents.

Ms Mokgethi appreciated the gesture portrayed by both donors, citing that the items donated would go a long way to relief beneficiaries’ during the tough times presented by COVID-19 pandemic.

She indicated that government alone could not manage to close all gaps brought by COVID-19, hence appealing for continued support from the private sector to assist where necessary in order to beat the scourging predicaments brought by the pandemic.

In her remarks, area councillor, Ms Thamage said she was impressed by the gesture displayed by respective donors.

Ms Thamage also thanked MP for Gaborone Bonnington North for gracing the event and always being the first to the podium in terms of addressing the challenges faced by her ward, which included among others, bush clearing and poor drainage systems which needed to be maintained.
