Botswana Men's relay team clinches Bronze

Botswana 4x 400 metres men’s relay team finally delivered a medal that Batswana have been longing for at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games this afternoon.

The quartet: Captain Isaac Makwala, Baboloki Thebe, Zibani Ngozi and Bayapo Ndori scooped a bronze medal by shattering their own African Record they set in the semi-final of 2:58.33 by clocking 2:57.27.

The team also made history as the first African country to get a podium finish in a 4x400 metres relay at the Olympics since 2004.

The team started the relay like a house on fire, with Makwala handing the baton to Thebe in a favorable position and Thebe managed to recover after he was nearly tripped, handing the baton to Ngozi who handed to Ndori to finish the race in position three.
