Body arrives

The body of Botswana Defence Force’s (BDF) Corporal Jacob Ramagonono who died in Mozambique on Tuesday arrived home yesterday.

 Born on February 6, 1978, Corporal Ramagonono of Molepolole was part of the Botswana contingent deployed to Mozambique as part of SADC Standby Force to help combat the threat of terrorism and acts of violent extremism in the country’s Cabo Delgado region. 

Addressing the media at Sir Seretse Khama International Airport, Minister of Defence, Justice and Security Mr Kagiso Mmusi said investigations into the corporal’s death were still ongoing. 

On the wellbeing of the soldiers serving in Mozambique, Mr Mmusi said the troops were under good care. 

He urged the nation to keep all BDF members particularly those deployed to Mozambique and the Ramagonono family in prayers. 

The minister also said discussions on funeral arrangements were still ongoing.

BDF spokesperson Colonel Tebo Dikole said the nation would be kept abreast of all arrangements in connection with  the funeral. ends
