Mahalapye District Health Management Team (DHMT) has to date, inoculated 15 347 people in the Sub-district since the rollout of the vaccine in April. 

Acting DHMT coordinator Dr Maxwell Mungisi, however, noted that from 15 347 people, 7 206 had been fully vaccinated. He said so far 2 438 people had received their first dose of AstraZeneca vaccine while 796 of them received their full dose. 

From the first consignment of Sinovac vaccine 6 410 people had received both their first and second dose while 65 are yet to get their second dose. 

Additionally, from the second consignment of Sinovac vaccine, 6 389 people received their first dose, with 2 212 of them being people aged between 45 to 54 years from the targeted group under the Phase II category which is inclusive of adults aged between 30 and 54.

He explained that the COVID-19 vaccination rollout was a continuous exercise, which was carried out as and when the vaccine became available. He therefore urged the pubic to remain calm and wait for their turn to receive the vaccine. 

He also encouraged them to follow the health protocols to reduce the risk of getting infected. Ends
