02 Aug 2021
COVID-19 cases in Chobe have dropped drastically, but there is need to remain vigilant, District Health Management Team (DHMT) coordinator, Ms Rose Munyere has said.
Ms Munyere said in an interview that as of July 28, there were 390 active cases.
She said the district registered 31 deaths, 24 of which were registered in July.
While appreciating the drop from 2 030 in July 5, she said 390 was still a high number for the district.
She noted that on average a total of 30 cases were registered daily compared to 266 at the peak of the disease.
Ms Munyere said she was hopeful there would be a decline in deaths, as most of the patients did not have life-threatening symptoms and most were on home isolation.
She said overall the district registered a total of 6 809 cumulative cases 491 of which were repatriated.
With regard to vaccination, she said a total of 1 352 people were fully vaccinated with AstraZeneca and Sinovac while 1 661 received only one dose of either of the drugs. Ends
