Orapa bids farewell to Legwaila

Orapa Court President, Ms Francinah Legwaila, has been described as a strategic leader, who has the skill to drive organisational objectives. 

Speaking during her farewell session recently, Orapa Letlhakane and Damtshaa Mines general manager, Mr Bakani Motlhabani, said Ms Legwaila fostered teamwork as she led the community of Orapa. 

That, he said, became evident during the corona virus outbreak  when she partnered with Debswana management, to fight the pandemic. 

Mr Motlhabani said Ms Legwaila was an open minded person, who was always willing to listen to the people she led and that afforded them opportunity to drive one goal together. 

He stated that she actively participated in COVID-19 virtual meetings, giving Debswana management constant support and motivation, as they had to deal with a new pandemic. 

The tribal secretary, Ms Iris Butale, described Ms Legwaila as a humble and loving person, who treated both the young and old with respect.  Ms Butale indicated that Ms Legwaila offered outstanding service to her clients with due diligence. 

Orapa councillor, Mr Balopi Chilume, said Ms Legwaila was a mentor to most of the people in the township and contributed immensely to development of the mining town. 

He noted that she made a significant impact in instilling discipline and order in the community. 

Ms Legwaila, he said, was a strong woman of prayer who was well known for praying for her clients before she could sentence them. 

He said the gifts she received were testimony to just how much she was appreciated. 

In response, Ms Legwaila thanked Orapa community and Debswana management for their working relationship, saying it enabled her to achieve her organistional objectives.

 She indicated that she gained a lot of knowledge and skill as her office worked in partnership with Debswana on various programmes. 

She said the respect that the community of Orapa accorded her empowered her to deliver. 

Ms Legwaila said she learnt a lot about the enviable culture of Orapa, and urged the community to maintain theoir spirit of unity. Ends
