Orapa mining town currently operates with only the east and west gates.

The mainly used gate, passes through slurry dams and the mine on the other side.

Mr Tlale stated that the gate had been financed at a total value of P30 million.

Light is provided by means of solar lights.

There are six kiosks, a permit office, an induction hall, showers for truck drivers, public toilets and 23 parking spaces for small cars and seven truck parking space among others.

There are three lanes from the gate either direction.

Orapa Councillor Mr Balopi Chilume, commended Debswana for considering the economic aspect by including kiosks in the design and layout of the gate.

He said the kiosks should be allocated to the community of Orapa.

He said the construction of the South Gate would facilitate the opening up of the mining town as it would allow ease of access. Ends
