Makwala Scotch ready

Isaac Makwala and Leungo Scotch will compete in the 400 metres hits at the Tokyo Olympics on Sunday morning.
Coach, Justice Dipeba, said the two were ready to deliver, adding they had been working hard at training.
He said Makwala, who had been in Europe, was looking sharp and it was important to progress to all rounds.
He said the athlete was happy, focused and determined to do well.
Scotch, Dipeba said, was also ready, adding that judging from the training sessions, he was also focused.
The coach was confident that despite it being a big stage for Scotch, he was a tough athlete and there was no doubt that he would put up a good fight.
“The key thing for the Olympics is to make it to the finals and that is our objective, then we will take it from there,” he said
Track and field analyst, Aobakwe Showa, said Makwala’s seasons best time ranked behind American’s trio of Michael Cherry, Michael Normal and world leader, Raldolph Ross.
Showa further advised Olympic debutant, Scotch, to execute what he had been working on in practice, taking each race as it comes and running to the best of his ability.
“Making it to the semi-finals will be a good achievement and will definitely improve his ranking, which might come in handy for Oregon 2022 World championships qualifiers,” he said. ENDS
