New Maun shopping complex takes shape
27 Jul 2021
Construction of yet another addition to Maun’s growing infrastructure, Delta Palms shopping complex, has started at Boseja ward.
The 19-shop complex is expected to provide convenience to customers of all types.
The contractor, Caitec Botswana’s site manager, Mr Wang Yu said the works were progressing well considering the project started in January.
Estimated date of completion is March next year.
It currently employs more than 100 people.
Residents of Boseja have welcomed the development, saying the mall was not only conveniently located but would offer variety as it hosted different shops selling a wide range of goods.
Kgosi Mokopu Banyatsang of Boseja ward (north), who sold the developer the one-hectare plot, said in addition to convenience, the project would give Boseja a facelift.
Kgosi Banyatsang said the project would relieve the village of unemployment exacerbated by COVID-19.
“This project has created employment opportunities for our locals who lost jobs in the tourism industry and I am thankful that once it is complete it will create more jobs,” he added.
Other ongoing big projects in Maun include construction of a centre for children with disability and that of Ombudsman’s regional offices.
A new 26-bed private hospital was recently opened at Maun’s Newtown ward. Ends
