Montsho continues to be tenacious

Despite the high rate of unemployment in the country as well as the current COVID-19 pandemic, a young man in Thabala has shown determination and persistence in making a living for himself.
The 33 year old Mr Banda Montsho, who owns My Destiny Car Wash, says he is proud of his small beginnings and anticipates success in his business endeavour.
He says his business, which started as a car wash, has grown to include haircutting services, welding, tyre repairs, and also has a pool table.
Mr Montsho said My Destiny Car Wash was established in 2017 with himself as its sole employee, while it now has two other employees.
He said although he did not go to school to acquire the skills for the services he offers, he is always keen to learn from those who know, explaining that he learnt welding from his uncle.
He said although his business is doing well, because of COVID-19 having greatly affected the country’s economy, his business was not spared as he has experienced a slight downfall on the profit he usually makes.
One other challenge that Mr Montsho faces is that of worn out machinery, which he said causes delay in his provision of services that his customers seek from his business.
However Mr Montsho is determined to not let these challenges pull him down as he is set on continuing working hard and finding ways to grow his business.
He said he needs financial help and would appreciate any investors who would be willing to uplift and improve his business.
The entrepreneur said his eyes will not only be set on My Destiny Car Wash as he desires to venture into poultry farming as well.
He said he intends to make use of the government’s initiatives such as YDF, not only to make a living but to also create employment for other Batswana.
Mr Montsho said unemployment should not discourage the youth from improving their lives but he instead encouraged them to focus more on acquiring skills and starting businesses of their choice.
He said although Thabala is a small village, a lot can come from it if the youth can set out into businesses, something that he said would be easier if they could work together and help one another.
He said they should also take advantage of the government’s initiatives especially those intended for the youth and not to rely solely on the government for job creation and employment. ends
