Extension Gunners will on Saturday host a virtual elective annual general meeting (AGM).

In an interview on Wednesday, Gunners public relations officer, Gerald Mahumba, indicated that the proceedings would be conducted from Lobatse, while all other branches would partake from their respective areas.

He highlighted that they were supposed to have conducted their elections last year, but it was not possible due to COVID- 19 restrictions, hence the need to hold it virtually since the pandemic was still a threat.

However, Mahumba said they had adopted finance and regulation policy as an instrument to assist on managing the organisation effectively.

The communication strategy, he said, was also adopted with the aim to improve internal and external flow of information as well as to maintain and grow the brand.

Mahumba indicated that their nationwide recruitment drive paid off since they managed to officially register 1 391 members, with seven branches reaching 100 members each. 

“This is a great milestone. We have been known to have a lot of members but they were not registered,” he added.

Mapantsula’s public relations officer said it was evident that with more hard work and focused leadership, more members could be registered.

He highlighted that the team needed members to work together in bringing the right personnel with required skills to elevate the organisation to greater heights. 

“We need to professionalise our operations hence the need for the right leadership,” he added.

The challenges faced by the team, he said, had been identified and needed the team’s operations to be professionalised in order to address them.

“Gunners is a big brand and it needs the right leadership to reach its potential,” he said.

He urged Gunners members to go for elections with open minds, understanding the people they would be voting for and knowing very well that they were capable of taking the team forward. ends
