Adults aged 45 to 54 are advised to register and visit the nearest vaccination site with effect from today for inoculation against COVID-19.

A Ministry of Health and Wellness news release explains that the age group falls into Phase 2 of the National Vaccine Deployment Plan initially planned to commence next month.

According to the release, transiting to Phase 2  had to be brought forward as some districts were already receiving dwindling numbers of those currently targeted (55 and above) as at the week ending July 16.  

It states that even though Phase 2 covers the 30-54 age group, the rollout will cover the 45 to 54-year-olds first.

“The reason for not inviting the whole Phase 2 cohort at a go is to avoid congestion at vaccination sites,” explains the release.

Vaccination sites nationwide will open from 07:30 am to 04:30 pm Monday to Friday.

Any changes will be communicated, it says.ENDS
