Tlokweng MP, Mr Thulagano Segokgo, has urged young people to create meaningful opportunities to make a living.

Speaking during a Tlokweng Youth Development Fund (YDF) facilitation workshop on Saturday, Mr Segokgo, who is also the Minister of Transport and Communications, told prospective youth entrepreneurs that in today’s society, career options were limited thus calling for innovative business minded youth.

He said lack of formal employment must not deter youth from taking advantage of numerous government efforts aimed at assisting them financially.

He said he had visited some youth funded projects and were doing extremely well sending a positive message to other prospective young entrepreneurs.

Mr Segokgo urged the youth to explore  business product space and come up with varying business ideas.

For his part, a business development consultant, Mr Kagiso Habangana said he conceptualized the Youth Entrepreneurship Accelerator Programme (YEAP) after identifying challenges in the Youth Development Fund (YDF) application process.

He said YEAP was to empower young people identify the challenges and simplify them. He appealed to the local leadership to be supportive of youth as they wanted community support for their ideas to come into fruition.

Mr Habangana said identifying business opportunities and assessing their viability required the right mind set.

He said the journey was quite tough and encouraged youth to throw in all they could to overcome any obstacle.

He took attendants through the YDF sector priorities and unpacked areas such as business premise, business status, production process, production forecast and marketing strategy among others. Ends
