Botswana, which has benefitted from collaborative efforts with Brazil in various areas of development, is looking forward to more, says President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi.
Receiving letters of credence from Brazil ambassador Mr Flavio Rocha yesterday, Dr Masisi said Botswana and Brazil were natural partners committed to agricultural and technological development collaboration.
Noting Brazil’s remarkable scientific prowess, he said government would continue to engage more deeply in the area.
Botswana, the President said, learnt a lot from Brazil particularly in poverty eradication initiatives which it continued to focus on.
Dr Masisi expressed gratitude for collaborative efforts with Brazil universities on scientific research as the country strived to grow its veterinary and human medicine.
Ambassador Rocha encouraged local research institutions to work with their Brazil counterparts saying they had a lot to learn from each other.
He promised to invite Brazilian entrepreneurs to Botswana to share notes with local businesses especially in the agriculture and transport sector.
Mr Rocha encouraged Batswana students to explore opportunities of higher learning in his country.
He applauded government for including resident foreign nationals in the COVID-19 vaccination rollout. Ends
